Wilder Systems designs, manufactures, and installs robotic systems for industrial manufacturing applications in the aerospace industry. Our tools are used in direct manufacturing and maintenance of aerospace structures. Wilder Systems is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to be responsible for turning design requirements into viable products. Specific tasks include system design, detailed mechanical design and analysis, manufacturing drawing creation, procurement, and production support across all levels of the company.
Responsibilities
Product Design
- Analyze requirements and statement of works to clearly define problems and objectives to work against
- Provide feedback with practical design approaches through real world applications and examples
- Generate calculations and matrices to support design decisions -free body diagrams, mechanical load and life cycle, and trade studies of decisions
- Lead design and development of products and tools to a technical readiness level to deploy in a production or research environment
- Conduct all design duties using computer aided design software
Manufacturing Support
- Generate part and assembly drawings for machine shops and integrators to fabricate
- Generate work orders for Wilder Systems technicians to assemble designed products and tools
- Provide quality assurance and assembly support for the technicians
Documentation
- Develop documents covering part drawings, bill of materials, work instructions, maintenance, and functionality of product
- Provide diagrams and information to support design reviews and product proposals
Required Experience
- Working knowledge of best practices for automated drilling, welding, pick and place, CNC control, or end effector design
- Highly proficient use of CAD software, Solidworks preferred
- Part drawing generation and attention to detail
- Knowledge of GD&T and Design for Manufacturing techniques
- Strong familiarity with metals fabrication
- Expert level of basic machinery design – includes design process, engineering mechanics and materials, failure prevention, and characteristics of the principal types of mechanical elements
Preferred Experience
- 3+ years experience working directly with aerospace automation
- 3+ years experience designing for low volume manufacturing
- Strong familiarity with metals fabrication Broad knowledge of automation hardware (drive trains, actuators, guides, etc.)
- Automation and robotic work experience
- Finite Element Analysis
- Background knowledge of CATIA
- Product Data Management Software
- Generating Bills of Material
General Requirements
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card holder
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field
- Willingness to lead and mentor junior engineers
- 4 or more years of field and project planning experience
- Knowledge of design and visualization software
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
- Strong communication, organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and have a solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical control systems
- Both self-motivated and works well under general supervision
- Works well in high pressure situations, during tight deadlines, and with customers
- Able to travel occasionally
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
