The Purple Rhombus Unmanned Systems business unit designs, builds, manufactures, and tests unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) for US government and commercial customers. Focused on producibility, Purple Rhombus aircraft are designed for scale manufacture. We are seeking mission-driven individuals to join the team to build the next generation of unmanned aircraft.
Job Description: Wilder Systems is seeking a team member to take part in all test aspects of our UAS division to include our lab environment and flight test activities. Specific tasks include the physical build of our bench aircraft, assembly of test aircraft, test planning/reporting, test execution and oversight, tracking progress, providing team direction, program reporting, and supporting the design process for revisions and new aircraft design.
Responsibilities
Lab Testing
· Conduct lab testing of aircraft and equipment
· Write clear and concise Lab Test Plans and reports for specific test objectives
· Manage lab equipment and supplies
Flight Testing
· Write clear and concise Flight Test Plans and reports for specific test objectives
· Travel to flight test location on a weekly basis to perform flight operations
· Tune Autopilots and sensors
· Install test hardware into flying test bed aircraft.
· Assemble test aircraft
· Execute flight demonstrations at industry events and customer facilities
· Collect and document flight test data and support engineering analysis
Documentation
· Document work instructions for aircraft assembly
· Perform test aircraft assembly and configuration
· Create aircraft operations training documentation
Design Support
· Provide feedback with practical design approaches through real world applications and examples
Required Experience
· Open Source drone development tools and autopilots such as PX4/Q Ground Control
· UAS prototyping and testing
· RC fixed wing aircraft test and flight
Preferred Experience
· A&P License
· Proficient use of CAD software
· Additive Manufacturing
· Experience working directly with machine shops or suppliers
· Aerospace design, manufacturing, or maintenance experience
· Pilot of UAS under 14 CFR part 107 and part 91 with various types of ground control stations
General Requirements
· 1-5 Years experience
· Proficient in Microsoft Suite
· Strong communication, organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills
· Both self-motivated and works well under general supervision
· Works well in high pressure situations, during tight deadlines, and with customers
· Able to provide proof of US Citizenship or Permanent Residency
· Able to travel
Annual salary range $55,000-$77,000
Travel: 25% per year.
