Firehawk Aerospace is a propulsion-focused aerospace and defense company based in the Dallas, TX area. Firehawk is looking for a dedicated and experienced Lead Systems Engineer to support our mission of creating cutting-edge defense solutions. The Lead Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring that Firehawk Aerospace maintains the highest standards of design, analysis, and compliance rigor throughout its operations.
Responsibilities
- Translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions under technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Lead a program risk and opportunities program in conjunction with the chief engineer and program manager.
- Manage requirements verification and compliance efforts.
- Create system-level qualification plans.
- Contribute to the completion of specific programs, projects, and proposals.
- Interact frequently with technical staff and management throughout multiple departments and with outside customer contacts. Communicate effectively with teams on a daily basis about assignments and results.
- In addition, must be a team player, able to work comfortably and effectively with team members, program stakeholders, and senior personnel using strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
- Travel is required for customer interfacing, technical interchange meetings, on-site technical support, testing events, and other special events.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering (or another applicable technical field).
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant Systems experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, or defense industry setting.
- Experience applying systems engineering processes (design reviews, requirements verification and validation, risk management).
- Knowledge of Department of Defense and INCOSE standards.
- Compliance and risk matrix generation.
- Acceptance test procedure generation.
- System architecture and design.
- Technical requirement assessment.
- Willingness to mentor less experienced engineers.
- Written and oral communication skills including presentation skills.
- Organization, coordination and multitasking skills.
- Self-motivation.
- Can work independently with minimal oversight.
