Access Optics is currently seeking additional Quality Inspectors to join our medical device manufacturing company. In this role, the Quality Inspector will be responsible for supporting the inspection of both supplier material and complex fabricated parts and assemblies and devices manufactured within the Company’s facility. Specifically, you will be using a variety of bench and hand inspection tools along with manual and programmable Inspection equipment. This is an exciting opportunity for Quality Inspectors to gain experience within a global manufacturer of medical devices.

You will be responsible for supporting production within the Company. Responsibilities include sampling material for compliance to drawings and procedures, performing checks for verification by following inspection plans and using the appropriate measuring equipment, assisting operators on measuring equipment, communicating results to operators, Quality, and Engineers, documenting results in the company’s ERP system and other duties as they evolve. The Quality Inspector position is hands-on in a fast-paced environment using a variety of measuring gauges and machines, while maintaining attention to detail and good inspection habits to ensure high level of production quality. Typical tasks of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Use measuring instruments, engineering drawings, procedures, workmanship standards, etc. to perform inspection of parts and assemblies.
  • Maintain inspection records and compile results of all inspections for internal feedback reporting system.
  • Complete discrepancy reports for non-conforming material as needed.
  • Operate automated inspection equipment, specifically programmable vision systems.

The successful candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that would include the following:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience inspecting parts and product
  • Experience in an ISO9001:2015 environment – experience in ISO13485:2016 is a plus
  • Proficient using various gauges such as micrometers and calipers, height, plug, bore, thread and ring, and other standard measuring devices.
  • Experience using and/or programming automated vision inspection, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other such measuring devices
  • Working knowledge of mechanical drawings
  • Interpret, document, and communicate results to appropriate departments and personnel.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Good leadership, facilitation, along with very good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Analytical thinker and problem solver
  • US Citizenship required
