ACCESS OPTICS is a leading-edge, precision micro-optics manufacturer. The successful candidate will have experience with an array of materials including optical glasses, fused silica, and sapphire. The ability to produce tight-figure surfaces with exceptional surface quality is critical. Working from written instructions and drawings, the incumbent will set up and execute jobs requiring precision and attention to detail. Experience with production of windows and lenses to 1mm diameter and below is a strong plus. Experience with conventional and/or CNC equipment is a significant advantage. Collaboration with manufacturing engineers and production supervisor are required to meet on-time delivery schedules. Previous experience in an ISO-certified/lean manufacturing environment is very beneficial.

Responsibilities
* Perform all optical fabrication processes including, but not limited to, blocking, radius generating, grinding, polishing, centering/edging, and coring. Proficiency with physical and optical metrology equipment – interferometer, autocollimator, dimensional test equipment and MTF measurement is essential.
* Performs complete set-ups and operates optical fabrication equipment on assignments.
* Particular skill and emphasis in the lapping & polishing of spheres is key.
* Performs a wide variety of set ups and operates optical fabrication equipment on assignments of unique and non-routine methods.
* Maintains work area and equipment in a neat and orderly condition.
* Follows prescribed safety regulations and assists in modifying and creating them as required.
* Understands and follows ISO procedures.
* Reads and interprets technical drawings and process instructions.
* Assists in creating procedures, process routines and methods as required.
* Perform “operator-level” maintenance and preventative maintenance on equipment and tooling.
Qualifications
* HS Diploma plus 5 years or more experience in a precision optical fabrication facility.
* Working knowledge of shop math.
* Ability to read and interpret drawings.
* Mechanical ability.
* Able to use hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
* Experience in manufacturing environment.
* Experience with troubleshooting of processes.
* Team player with good communication skills.
* Careful, well organized and detail oriented.
* Strong computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
